Autumn Houseplant Sale: Preview the Plants, Check Sale Times

Back during our Spring Plant Sale, a few neighbors said they’d like houseplants as much as (or more than) veggie seedlings. Thanks for the idea! Many of my indoor succulents, flowers, and vines needed to be divided recently. This means lots of “houseplant babies”. Scroll down to see pictures!

WHERE

The Plant Sale Cart is on the corner of Montana and Silverbow in Belgrade. If it’s hot/windy, look for the cart under the willow tree, facing Montana St. Follow the directions posted at the cart, and enjoy your plants!

By the way… The new cart is quite the upgrade from my clunky old folding table. Big thanks to actor, musician, and after-hours woodworker John Hosking for his craftsmanship and ingenuity. The cart is made of salvaged materials and old mountain bike wheels. Super cool.

COST

All plants are Pay-What-You-Can - Suggested prices $1 to $3 each

THE PLANTS

Aloe - Tiny “kitchen aloe”, not edible but good for minor burns.

Mother-of-Thousands - Grow it for a few months and you’ll learn the reason for the name. :-D

Ogre’s Ears - Fun, desert succulent.

Sweet Potato Vine - Yes, the kind that you could grow indoors as a lovely vine in winter months, then transplant into your garden next summer to grow your own sweet potatoes. Talk to Anika about how to do this successfully despite our short growing season.

Waffle Plant - NOT edible, does not grow waffles (darn). Just a pretty “waffled” edge on the leaves.

Watch Chain - Funky desert succulent that will spread all over; one small segment can grow a whole new plant!

Other Miscellaneous Succulents - Unknown varieties, but gorgeous. Some are about to bloom!
